The parent company behind Foxlow, which closed its Chiswick restaurant last year, has taken the decision to close the remaining Foxlow restaurants in London.

First to close was Stoke Newington, followed by Chiswick and now Soho, Clerkenwell, and Balham will be gone by the end of this month.

The owners say they will be able to focus exclusively on Hawksmoor, the sister restaurnat which has won awards for its steak, and which continues to thrive in the UK and is opening in New York this Autumn..

"When we opened our first Foxlow we wanted to create a great neighbourhood restaurant, doing the things that we believe in: sourcing food from the best British farmers and fishermen, treating staff well and allowing them in turn to show our customers the kind of hospitality that we enjoy giving and receiving ourselves.

"Hopefully Hawksmoor’s success and integrity will mean that many of the people who worked in Foxlow will move to Hawksmoor to continue to build their careers with us, which we believe is testament to the exceptional people and culture we have here."

The premises in Chiswick, formerly Sam's Bar and Brasserie, remains vacant, over a year since Foxlow's vacated it in March 2018.

The Foxlow brand suffered from the perception that it was 'just a steakhouse' and efforts to rebrand and reshape the menu were not enough to convince locals in Chiswick. Now it appears that a similar fate has befallen the other branches of the chain.

The chain specialised in steaks, cocktails and brunches and is owned by Will Beckett and Huw Gott. After Sam's Brasserie closed, it was refurbished using reclaimed and vintage materials and offered a menu of charcoal-grilled steaks sourced from The Ginger Pig butchery, as well as seafood, smoked meats and salads.
