Indian Cardamon Closes Suddenly
Devonshire Road restaurant posts message that they are moving
Indian Cardamon, a restaurant on Devonshire Road, appears to have closed suddenly with no indication at this stage that it will reopen.
The premises have been cleared and a to let sign has been placed at the address at 42 Devonshire Road.
There was a noticed posted on their web site saying 'we are closed till Thursday 5:00pm. We are moving..'. Later the web site was taken offline.
Another shop owner on Devonshire Road said they had been told Indian Cardamon's lease had expired and a large increase was expected.
The restaurant had been given a one star rating by hygiene inspectors last year. This rating means that they believed that major improvement was necessary. Although Indian Cardamon was rated 'good' for food hygiene and safety, the inspectors reported that they had little confidence in management.
The restaurant was formerly know as Indian Cinnamon and a company of that name registered at the same address is currently subject to a proposal to be struck off after last filing an Annual Return with Companies House in 2013. Another company called Indian Cloves Ltd was registered at the address that year but was dissolved in 2015.
We were unable to contact the owners of Indian Cardamon to ask them about the closure.
