Juniors from Tideway Scullers School (TSS) enjoyed the first scorcher of the season, both in terms of weather and results on Saturday down the river at Walton Rowing Club.

The J14 boys in a quad made up of Nicholas, Jack, Ben and Lucas coxed by Hermione were on first, and came through the heat against Whitgift in style for a stronger Walton crew beat them in a close semi final.

Next up were Saskia and Ella rowing up a year in the WJ14 double. They had no problem overcoming Weybridge to bring three TSS crews into the semi finals. It is never very nice racing your crew mates, and Ellie and Tiffany did a sterling job but couldn't quite beat Ella and Saskia who went through to the final, whilst Sophie and Issy saw off Staines.

Sophie and Issy came away winners in the end, but the true winner was TSS being able to 'boat' so many quality crews.

Once again, the WJ14 singles produced a TSS vs TSS final, and Saskia came home just a little ahead of Issy to win.

Not to be outdone, the WJ14 quad of Ella, Christa, Tiffany, Ellie cox Hermione fought off St Georges and then Weybridge Ladies to make a full house of wins for the J14 girls' squad.

With not a little pressure to win their event, the J13 boys thrashed Walton and then Cranmore School (pictured left) to take a comfortable win in the coxed quad.
