"Valentina Fine Foods openings are always an event for all the family.  Expect to see donkey rides for the kids, live music, photo ops with a vintage Fiat car, goody bags to give away and complimentary drinks and food." says the website.

The new Valentina Chiswick ( the name is shared with the daughter of one of the founding families), restaurant/deli/shop is located opposite Turnham Green, in the premises formerly occupied by Villagio. Valentina has six branches in London, Surrey and Kent- until now the nearest branches have been East Sheen or Putney.

You can watch the story about the family on this video by Chiswick-based company Ocicat in which founder Bruno Zoccola describes how his parents emigrated from Sant'Elia Fiumerapido, a small village near Monte Cassino southeast of Rome, arriving in London in 1958.

The Zoccola and Arcari families are the delicatessen and restaurant owners and operators. Both families have their roots in Sant'Elia Fiumerapido and all the restaurants/delis are run by family members.

They make their own egg pasta fresh every day, while their tomato sauce is made with tomatoes from their own farms in Italy. Olive oil (used and served in both the restauranti and shop) is their own special blend, from trees that are well over 100 years old.

The restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, or you can visit for an Italian coffee! The menu ranges from antipasti, to salads, pizzas , pastas and mains including meats, chicken and fish. Their panettone ( yeast cake with candied fruit) has been featured in Delicious magazine and is a a 2 gold star Great Taste Award 2013 winner.

Bruno Zoccola, founder of Valentina, said; “We are very excited to be opening our new addition to the family business in Chiswick”.

All Valentina shops have a fully stocked delicatessen which has been described as an Aladdin’s cave for Italian foodies. They also have an extensive dining menu that features authentic Italian recipes handed down through the generations
