Darcau, the little cafe on Bedford Corner, South Parade, has closed, another loss of an independently run business to the area.

Patrice and Christian opened Darcau in Chiswick, several years ago and it started out as a simple cafe with just a few tables.

They described themselves as a family restaurant with a tradition of excellence, and served homemade sandwiches, salads, bakery goods and traditional favourites. The cafe had a distinctive French feel to the decor and the dishes.

The small cafe grew into a restaurant of twenty tables, but the reason for closure has not been revealed. It was formerly the site of the Copper Kettle cafe.

Local people will now have to travel further up Turnham Green Terrace to the nearest cafe and the pleasant staff and fresh food of Darcau will be missed.
