Considering the widespread gastro-fication of Chiswick locals, it is not that surprising that three establishments got a mention in the 2009 edition of Michelin’s Eating Out in Pubs which was launched this week.

Amongst the 563 of the best pubs serving good food in the UK and Ireland, Michelin gave a special mention to The Devonshire, The Duke of Sussex and The Bollo with the first two making their first appearance in the guide.

All the pubs in the guide were selected for the quality of their cooking. Commenting on the evolution of pub food and its rise in popularity, Derek Bulmer, the guide’s editor said, “The standard of cooking in British and Irish pubs keeps getting better and better. We are seeing a growing confidence in our culinary heritage, greater use of local, seasonal ingredients and a rediscovery of regional specialities”.
