The Pilot has been awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 1, a score which means 'Major Improvement Necessary' in a recent inspection by Hounslow Council.

The Wellesley Road gastropub, which is part of the Fuller's chain, reopened in March following an extensive refurbishment.

The company has said it has worked to iron out the issues and hopes for a speedy reassessment.

In an inspection carried out on March 31st, 2016 by food inspectors from Hounslow Council, the pub achieved a poor result. The food hygiene and safety procedures (including food handling practices and procedures and temperature control), was assessed as Poor.

The structure of the establishment, including cleanliness, layout, condition of structure, lighting, ventilation and facilities was rated as; Fair.

There was little' Confidence in management, which indicates a varying record of compliance, a poor appreciation of hazards and control measures and no food safety management safety system.

The refurbishment at Wellesley Road had seen the pub retain its traditional pub feel with a few modern touches, creating a light and airy space.

There was also a new menu, boasting fresh, home-made food, including delicious seasonal dishes, with ingredients from local suppliers. Beers available include Fuller’s new red ale, Montana Red, alongside Frontier craft lager and London Pride.

Commenting on the recent rating The Pilot, Chiswick, a spokesperson for Fuller, Smith & Turner PLC said: “We are obviously very disappointed with this score. The visit happened over a month ago, when we had just reopened and it would appear that we had a couple of issues, which have since been ironed out.

“However, there can be no excuses. We have tackled the problem and we hope for a quick reassessment to show that standards at The Pilot are to the highest level.”
