Red faces all round last weekend when a member of the local constabulary managed to get the the England Rugby team "lost" on their way to their Six Nation's game at Twickenham.

The team, who stay at The Chiswick Moran Hotel on match weekends, arrived late for their fixture against France after the regular police escort insisted on taking an alternative route to the ground.

As match commentators had a field day deliberating over how the team had managed to lose their way in the short distance between Chiswick and Twickenham, it transpired that the coach driver's request to stick to the tried and tested way had been vetoed.

"The driver wasn’t happy as he wanted to stick to his normal route but the police over ruled him!" said a spokesperson for the team.

We can only hope that the Welsh police have a better sense of direction.
