The Clayton Hotel Chiswick has officially unveiled its £21 million extension and refurbishment.

The four-star hotel close to Chiswick Roundabout formerly known as the Chiswick Moran has added a large ballroom suitable for weddings, conferences and other functions, along with 104 bedrooms, bringing the total of guest rooms to 227. The entire hotel has been completely refurbished.

The new design is aimed at creating a contemporary openness and space with a bronze and burnt orange colour scheme throughout. The interior atrium is Italian marble flooring and a huge glass chandelier has been installed. This then leads to the public space, which has also been remodelled. The events area can accommodate 400 guests in the large ballroom, along with the ten purpose-built meeting and function rooms.

The Globe bar area

One major change is that the hotel reception desk has been repositioned to one side in the entrance lobby and the adjacent Globe Bar has been remodelled so that there are seating areas separated by open-shelf room dividers. The Bar, which serves food throughout the day from breakfast to evening, seats up to 80 people and in keeping with the local connection, they are selling Fuller's beer and gin from Sipsmith's. There is live music on Fridays. The Grill room restaurant has also launched a new menu, ranging from fusion food to favourites such as burgers, steaks and seafood.

The hotel also includes a private library, to give people space to work or have privacy. General Manager Thomas Doyle said that the re-design caters for the changing needs of guests.

"People no longer spend time in their room, preferring to be in communal spaces, even if they're on their own. We've provided a variety of spaces to sit throughout the ground floor offering different degrees of privacy, as well as space to work, relax, eat, hold business meetings or chat with friends- with superfast broadband throughout."

There is also a gym for the use of guests, and the car park can accommodate 100 cars.

Reception area seating

The launch took place at a lunch attended by the Mayor of Hounslow, Cllr Ajmer Grewal, leader of Hounslow Council Steve Curran, local councillors, media, representatives of local businesses and senior executives of the Dalata Hotel group. The hotel says its expansion has created 25 new jobs in Chiswick.

Dalata currently owns the Maldron mid-price hotel chain in Ireland. Dalata was founded in 2007 by Pat McCann, previously chief executive of Jurys Doyle Hotel Group, and currently operates 40 hotels with over 6,000 bedrooms. There are Clayton hotels in Leeds, Manchester and Cardiff as well as two in London ( Chiswick and Cricklewood) and five Clayton hotels in Ireland.

The ballroom

The Chiswick hotel has benefited from its proximity to the Chiswick Business Park, and it hopes to expand on this as well as becoming a centre for events such as weddings and conferences.
