Sam’s Bar & Brasserie is on schedule to open Monday 8th August. Situated in the Barley Mow Centre, Sam’s is headed by front-of-house co-owner Sam Harrison, who was previously General Manager for Rick Stein in Padstow and also worked Sydney for 2 years.

Harrison cites his experience with Stein as seminal to his new independent venture, and, indeed, the feeling is mutual since Stein is an investor in the Chiswick project and is acting in a ‘godfatherly’ way to help Harrison through the complicated process of opening a restaurant in London.

Speaking at a recent ‘hard hat’ reception on site, Rick Stein said “I’m so pleased that he’s decided to call it Sam’s as I know that he’ll run the place in his own individual style, and I also think that Rufus [Head Chef] is a rising star. Lucky Chiswick!”

Formerly a paper factory, the Barley Mow Centre was redeveloped in 2003/2004 as an office space for over 100 small businesses. Whilst not designed by Voysey himself, his influence remains apparent in this remarkable building. The bar and brasserie's design is raw and industrial in keeping with the building - rather like a New York loft only on the ground floor.

Head Chef, Rufus Wickham, previously at Kensington Place and The Crown Hotel in Suffolk has created a Modern European menu including dishes such as Grilled leeks, soft boiled egg, sherry vinegar & parmesan, Smoked haddock, bacon and potato soup, Steamed mussels and clams with chickpeas and chorizo and Slow roast shoulder of lamb, apricot stuffing, harrisa and couscous.

His menus have been designed to feature everything from light salads to serious roasts to appeal to one and all.  With emphasis on affordability and flexibility, people will be encouraged to visit Sam’s for everything from breakfast or a light snack and coffee, to drinks with friends or a full three course meal with wines. Breakfast, weekend brunch, lunch, bar and healthy children’s menus will also be available.

As a special opening offer, Sam’s Bar & Brasserie are inviting locals to their preview week when they are planning to run “Dress Rehearsal” evenings with controlled numbers and offering 50% off the food.

If you would like to be sent an invitation, please email your details to info@samsbrasserie.co.uk.
