Vote in the Chiswick Restaurant Poll

Two local restaurants have been recognised as being among the best in the country having been awarded a star in Egon Ronay's 2006 Guide To The Best Restaurants and Gastropubs.

Only 230 restaurants in the country are listed and they now include La Trompette on Devonshire Road and Le Vacherin on South Parade.

The ratings by the Egon Ronay guide confirm the voting by members of this site in the restaurant poll where these two establishments have been ranked first and second for some time.

Chef patron at Le Vacherin, Malcolm John told us, "Myself and the team at Le Vacherin are completely overjoyed at receiving this award. It's a great testimony to eighteen months of hard work. I would like to thank all the customers and locals who have taken Vacherin to their heart."

Other restaurants in the local area which achieved the same rating as the Chiswick pair were the River Cafe in Hammersmith and the Glasshouse in Kew.

Only four restaurants in the country achieved three stars including the eponymous restaurants of Gordon Ramsay and Tom Aikens plus the Waterside Inn in Bray.

Each restaurant is visited anonymously by a full-time, professional Egon Ronay inspectors who award 1, 2 or 3 stars for quality of food. No hospitality or advertising accepted from catering establishments.

If you are quick there may be still places at Le Vacherin's special gourmet truffle evening which takes place on Monday 28th November.
