We visit Roko Chiswick Bridge as they celebrate their first anniversary
Situated at the heart of the University of Westminster Grounds, Roko Health Club has just celebrated its first anniversary.
“We opened on 11th February 2008,” said Roko’s Joy McLoughlin. “It’s been good, very good. It’s not been as quick as we had hoped obviously due to the current climate but what we have found is that a number of people are investing in membership here.
“This is the one thing that they spend money on and come in every day if they want to so they can really get value for their money. People are more inclined to spend their money on a health club rather than £60 on a night out so we’ve found that our usage has gone up, people are getting more for their money, and are achieving some really good results.”
Now they have established themselves, Joy explained how the club’s focus is firmly on the local community.
“We now have Move Physio and Rehab Clinic here on site to provide people with a greater range of services such as running clubs and our spa is expanding all the time.”
Both Move and the Elemis Beauty Salon are open to non-members as well as members and benefit from plenty of free parking.
The club also ‘benefits’ from remaining an adult only club expect from 12-4 on Saturdays and Sundays when parents are allowed to bring their children in to use the swimming pool.
“We’ve had a very positive reaction to being an adult only club. It creates a calm haven away from everything really, not just the children!”
Roko are holding an special open weekend over Easter. “Come in and have a look for yourself,” encourages Joy.
