Barbecue and grill restaurant The Smokehouse at Sutton Lane North, appears to have closed down.

The premises, formerly the Hole In The Wall, was taken over and run as a restaurant by the Noble Inns group which refurbished the pub and brought in specialist equipment for for the grilling and barbecuing. They also have a restaurant in north London.

However, the restaurant, which was advertised as up for sale some months ago, is now closed, and there is newspaper covering the windows. There is no note to explain the situation.

The four-bedroom pub was advertised some time as being up for sale with Savills in the commercial property press.

It had been gained favour with critic Fay Maeschler and Rick Stein, and had seen its 5-star food hygiene level reinstated after an re-inspection following a rating of 1 ( Major Improvement Necessary).

The Chiswick Smokehouse was also shortlisted for Time Out Love London Awards, voted on by locals and customers.

Smokehouse described itself as having the warm atmosphere of a village pub, complete with three open fires and a stunning landscaped garden.

We have asked the company for comment on the situation and will report back..
