PHC Chiswick travelled to Slough for the last game before the Christmas break in what was always going to be a tough encounter.

Chiswick started nervously and struggled to retain possession but defended well for long periods with Colin Allen and Martin King looking solid at the back and Dan Loman controlling midfield well.

Chiswick scored in the 15th minutes against the run of play through top scorer Nayan Maken to go 1 up and went close to scoring through a short corner when Darmesh Puna put one past the right post before the half time break.

Slough came out the stronger team after the break and scored 2 goals in quick succession after some errors in the Chiswick defence let the Slough attack score easily.

Following a number of questionable umpiring decisions and some bad tackles Slough had 2 players sent off along with Andy Lightfoot and Colin Allen from Chiswick receiving yellow cards.

Some excellent goalkeeping from Rob Cooper in the Chiswick goal ensured the score remained 2-1 to Slough until a slick Chiswick attack earned them a short corner from which coach Chris Hovington fired in an unstoppable short passed the Slough keeper.

The Chiswick coach commented “This was a valuable point against tough opposition and makes sure we go into the Christmas break 3 points clear of our nearest rivals, Maidenhead. We will have some hard work to do after the Christmas break to make sure we come back fit and ready for the first game on 16th January”.
