Following PHC Chiswick’s lucky escape and a great result the previous week in which they beat a tough Sonning team 3-2 despite being 2-0 down at half time Chiswick went into this away game full of confidence against a weaker Oxford Hawks team whom they beat 12-2 in the first half of the season.

Chiswick started the game strongly but were nervous in possession and far too often threw away valuable chances and made a number of unforced errors which was unlike a team who are unbeaten this season and sit on top of the league.

Chiswick did however take the lead through a well worked short corner when Mitch Jaimeson slotted the ball into the net.

Following a harsh half time team talk Chiswick came out in the second half much the stronger team though had to survive a tough 10 minute spell in which some slack tackling and even worse marking gave Oxford Hawks the chance to equalise though luckily for Chiswick their forwards missed a couple of good chances.

It wasn’t until the 55th minute when Chiswick’s forwards finally won a short corner that Darmesh Puna coolly flicked home to put the away team 2-0 up. Following a good 15 minute spell Chiswick then scored through another Darmesh Puna short corner and a Dan Loman penalty flick gave Chiswick an excellent 4-0 win which somewhat flattered the away team.

Coach Chris Hovington commented “though we played well below the high standards we have set ourselves over the past few weeks we managed to run out comfortable winners in the end though the score flattered us really. We have a tough 3 weeks coming up with home games against Rover Oxford and Maidenhead and an away game against Eastcote and we will have to keep improving if we are to win these”.
