Chiswick Ladies Hockey 1st XI made history this weekend by securing the final three points they needed to become league champions and guarantee their place in South League Division 2 next season. Promotion sees the team achieve its highest ever league standing in the modern era of the club’s 125 year history.

After several years of heartache and near misses, the team was looking leave nothing to chance this Saturday by sealing their promotion, with two games to spare, with a victory against local rivals Eastcote. In the event they ran out 3-1 winners.

Following the arrival of new coach, current Welsh International, Rupert Shipperley, the Blues have been almost unstoppable this season having lost just two games.

Promotion for the Ladies 1st team caps an extremely successful year for PHC Chiswick Hockey Club which has seen player numbers across its 12 senior teams grow by a third, whilst it has also established a burgeoning junior section of over eighty 6-16 year old’s. The ambitious West London club has also been awarded England Hockey’s ‘Club First’ Accreditation, for providing a safe, effective and child friendly club environment.

Club Chairman, Chris Smith said,“This has been a truly remarkable year for the club, during which we have really stepped up our credentials within our own coaching team but have also had the privilege of welcoming guest coaches in the form of Great Britain International, Zoe Shipperley, Welsh International goalkeeper, David Kettle, and the recruitment of James Clark into our Club Coaching.”

PHC Chiswick is based in West London. They welcome players of all abilities to their 5 men's and 7 women's teams, along with a flourishing summer league and junior section.
