Old Meadonians

Still six short of their best squad Old Meadonians were held to a goalless draw by a Hale End team hoping that the six new signings on show would take them above the mid-table place they achieved last season.

The hosts were in for a disappointment as Meads’ defence still had too much nous for them even when they tried to put on the pressure after the interval and kept their attack at long range throughout.

For their part the visitors missed striker Colin Hawkins still serving out a ban from last season and with young pretender Albert Adomah injured and fellow striker Ed Glover not fully fit were forced to play trialist Joe Wihl up front.

In the first half a half fit Glover was still able to skim the bar from one cross from Jack Costello and shortly afterwards to hit it from the same source. Wihl was unlucky to be thwarted by the keeper in a one on one.

Team: Sayers, Salanson, Butler, Williamson, Rhone, Pearce, Kearney, Fox, (Jordan), Costello, Glover, Wihl.
