Chiswick Junior Rugby Club is celebrating its 5th season this year with over 100 children playing rugby every weekend between September and April.

Last season, various age groups competed in several local rugby tournaments, and now have 4 pieces of silverware proudly on display in the clubhouse celebrating their achievements.

The senior 1st XV were promoted to London 1 last season, but even they could not match this haul, a great reflection on the junior teams and also the high standard of coaching received.

They had an excellent overall season last year, seeing a large number of parents playing a very active part in the running of the club - this was then recognised by Middlesex RFU, who presented the club with an award for outstanding volunteer engagement.

The coaching staff is made up of a wide range of very experienced rugby coaches, many of whom themselves are senior 1st XV players, along with several parents.

The club prides itself on offering a truly authentic rugby experience for children at all skill levels - from absolute beginners looking to give rugby a try for the first time, through children who already play rugby at school, right up to experienced players who are perhaps looking for a change of club. The club is RFU affiliated and adheres to all RFU game rules and general guidelines.

This is not just a training environment though, all age-appropriate players can soon be representing their club in games against other clubs, as Head of Coaching Simon Hallett explained, “We field multiple teams, each at appropriate skill levels, which means we enter games and tournaments at exactly the right level for each team. We put a lot of our success down to having small groups for coaching, where each player’s strengths and weaknesses can be developed appropriately”

The new season starts on the first Sunday in September (6th) at 10.30am, where there will be a welcome session for returning and new players (boys and girls, ages 4 to 12 welcome) followed by a BBQ.

Also in September, they're offering a "Free Try" promotion - simply turn up and give a single training session a try, no commitment and no charge.

In this very exciting World Cup year, there's no better time nor place for children to pick up the ball and run for the line!
