This was a proverbial case of two halves. Tring kicked off and soon pressurised the CS defence and with just four minutes on the clock drove over for a 7-0 lead. With CS struggling Tring chipped towards the left corner and a fortunate bounce enabled an unopposed run in for a 12-0 lead.

The third try came from a drive over from a penalty, which was incurred at a five-metre scrum resulting from a mistimed touch down by a CS defender. Before half-time, left wing Zac Stamp scored CS’s first try; having broken down the right wing. Full back James Houstoun was unable to convert.

The half time score was 26-5. It looked more ominous as hooker Josh Forrester and captain Tom Proctor appeared like they might not make the restart due to injury. Soon after the restart CS conceded another try with Tring grateful for some poor tackling by CS 31-5.

CS then made some positional changes in the backs, in the hope that the backs might be brought more into the game than they had been in the first half. CS did indeed start to show more spirit and promise and the next score went to No 8 Tom Williams which Houstoun converted.

Right wing Toby Guyatt appeared wide on the left and when he received the ball had the gas to score in the corner which Houstoun converted. The final, and bonus point try went to Zac Stamp. Although CS received a penalty close to the Tring line, the whistle concluded the match at 45-24, which meant a drawn second half 19-19.

The CS supporters were pleased with the second half and the bonus point, especially considering that again there were some regular key players not available for selection
