Monthly numbers see average price down from record levels

There were 52 sales reported to the Land Registry for Chiswick in May at an average of £598,524.
This is below the levels seen in W4 earlier this year when prices reached record levels.
The average property in Chiswick cost more than £680,000 in the first three months of 2011. The previous highest quarterly average was in the third quarter of last year.
Six properties sold for over £1 million during the month including one that went for over £2 million on Esmond Road.
The only region in England and Wales to experience an increase in its average property value over the last 12 months is London with a movement of 2.9 per cent. This resulted in an average of £344,819 which is very similar the average in W3.
The most up-to-date figures available show that during March 2011, the number of completed house sales in England and Wales decreased by -13 per cent to 44,803 from 51,399 in March 2010. The number of properties sold in England and Wales for over £1 million increased by 58 per cent between March 2010 and March 2011, from 511 to 805.
