Belmont Primary School will host the newest farmers market in South West London with the opening of the Turnham Green Farmers’ Market on Saturday 8th July

Anne Williams Head teacher of the school in Belmont Road is eager for the market to start. She hopes to work on some projects with the market to help pupils to have a better understanding of food and farming and she is also looking forward to having some amazing food on her doorstep and is delighted to be asked to open the market at 9am on the 8th July.

The farmers market will be the only certified farmers market in this part of West London guaranteeing that real farmers and food producers will supply the market. All farms and food businesses are visited before they can sell to check the provenance of the food on offer

Head teacher of Belmont School, Anne Williams said "We are all very excited to have the opportunity to host a Farmer’s Market. Parents and local residents will soon benefit from access to fresh, locally grown produce; and the school will benefit from links with local producers. We are keen to extend the children’s learning opportunities through these links, and hope to arrange visits and events for the children to enjoy.”

Mark Handley from London Farmers’ Markets said “We’re delighted to have had so much enthusiasm from local residents and from Belmont School. We expect the market to attract more shoppers to the area on a Saturday and hope that it will increase sales for all retailers giving the local economy a real boost which has been the case at other farmers markets in London.”

The market will provide a fantastic choice of produce including delicious organic & outdoor reared meat, game in season, dairy, juice, smoked trout, plants & flowers, hand made preserves, soft fruit & top fruit, herbs, wet fish and shellfish, free range eggs, and the freshest vegetables and salads.
