Brentford earnt a point at Tranmere on Saturday but were denied all three when a Harlee Dean own goal gave the home side a somewhat lucky equaliser.

Tranmere had roared out of the traps when Martin Devaney fired home from close range in the fourth minute after Dean was caught in possession.

The Bees then went up through the gears with a Harlee header saved by Rachubka before Gary Alexander turned smartly to equalise from a Clayton Donaldson pass.

Ten minutes later Brentford went ahead when Donaldson lofted a shot over Rachubka from 25 yards. The Bees could have moved further in front but Saunders narrowly failed to convert a Forrester cross just before the interval.

Tranmere drew level in the 55th minute when a crisp passing move ended with the unfortunate Dean deflecting the ball past his own keeper.

Brentford ended the game the better team and - after dictating play for large periods and fashioning several chances - might consider the result as two points lost. Some sharp play from our strikers was largely undone by the odd defensive shambles in a back four that aren't yet used to playing together.

Uwe Rosler commented after the game 'We are paying the price for a bit of inexperience... overall I am happy with the way we played'. Rosler hinted earlier in the week that he will try to bring in a couple of more experienced heads on loan this week and also suggested that we are missing the calming presence of Kevin O'Connor.

Brentford end the evening in 8th position in League One, 5 points adrift of the playoff spots.

Bees - Lee, Bennett, Legge, Dean, Woodman, Saunders (McGinn 76), Douglas, Bean, Forrester (Dave 67), Donaldson (Grella 88), Alexander

Unused Bees - Moore, Eger
