|Council Tax Freeze But Garden Fees to Apply|
Mixed news for Ealing residents from last night's Council
The Council tax won't be increasing next year but a controversial charge will be introduced for the removal of garden waste from homes in Ealing.
In Tuesday night's Council meeting Cllr Yvonne Johnson Labourís Cabinet member for finance and performance confirmed that the Cabinet will recommend a council tax freeze when the budget is set in March.
She said : ďDespite the huge cuts the Government is making Labourís prudent management of the councilís finances means that we can afford to help local people in these difficult times. This Council tax freeze will put money in peopleís pockets when the Tory-led Governmentís reckless economic gamble is hurting hard working people.''

However extra charges will now apply to residents who want their garden waste collected - which had been previously included as part of the regular collection.
Despite a petition of over 5,000 being presented the council is not backing down and will press ahead with the controversial changes which will see an annual charge of £40.
