An Ealing policeman who'd been found guilty of assault and jailed has been sacked.

Police Constable Matthew Harries, 36 was yesterday, Tuesday 20 January, dismissed without notice from the Metropolitan Police Service following a special case hearing chaired by AC Martin Hewitt.

The hearing found that he breached of the Standards of Professional Behaviour by discreditable conduct.

On 22 October 2014 the officer appeared at Southwark Crown Court and was found guilty of an assault committed on 5 April 2013. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment and to pay a victim surcharge of £80.

He was subsequently dismissed as above.
