|Ultra Cool Modern Asian Music|
Sandeep Raval for one night only at the Watermans
Sandeep Raval returns with friends. An evening of ultra cool modern Asian music by this master of percussion, who is best known for composing and conceptualising performances around symphonic and world instruments.
Mosaic in Motion is a High Octane live stage performances featuring the best of Eastern Percussion and Western Jazz bringing together a myriad of influences and musical styles.
Mosaic: ‘a combination of diverse elements forming a more or less coherent whole’.
When used to describe music it’s a strong word, and only really suits something very special.
For Sandeep Raval it’s fitting to say the least. He straddles genres from Indian folk to Intelligent Dance Music. And with Mosaic in Motion, he shows a deft production hand by bringing seemingly disparate parts together. A convergence of sound and place, just don’t call it a fusion!
Richard Outhwaite: Saxophone, Heath Randal: Bass, Jacob Stoney: Keys/Guitar, Luke Szoltysek: Drums and Robin Christian: Bansuri/Flute, Kristel Morrison and Tequisha: Vocal and a special guest....
Like a plane jetting off to unknown destinations, the only way to understand this adventure is to buy a ticket, and take the world trip. After all, who doesn’t want the opportunity to explore the world’s sounds, in full stereo?
Trained in Indian classical music, Raval, has performed as a session musician, writer and composer, including collaborating with James Asher on four albums, Tigers of the Raj (1998), Raising the Rhythms (1999), Colors of Trance (2000), Feet in the Soil 2 (2000), Drums on Fire (2003). He has also performed for the West End musicals, Bombay Dreams (2002).
