Hounslow Green Party will introduce safer cycling measures, 20mph limits on residential streets, plant more trees and continue to oppose further expansion of Heathrow airport, according to their local election manifesto.

The party is putting up candidates in fifteen wards across the borough including Chiswick's three wards, and Brentford, Syon and Isleworth.

• Chiswick Riverside: Rachhpaul Bedi, Daniel Goldsmith and Diane Scott
• Chiswick Homefields: Olivia Southey
• Turnham Green: Sean Gibbons
• Brentford: John Bradley
• Syon: Tony Firkins
• Isleworth: John Ferris

"When elected in the local elections the Green Party will pursue policies to improve the quality of people’s lives. We will plan for an environmentally sustainable future for our children and grand-children and make the following pledges:

Heathrow expansion
We will vigorously oppose further expansion of Heathrow airport both because of the extra noise and pollution and because increased aviation cannot be part of a sustainable future.

Cycling
We aim to introduce safer cycling in Hounslow with dedicated cycle paths and plentiful cycle stands. We will encourage safe cycle routes to schools, cycle training and safe cycling corridors from transport hubs. We will mandate clearer road markings and enforcement to stop dangerous parking on junctions. This will encourage people and families to cycle which is better for the environment, and better for our lives.

20 mph speed limits in residential roads
We will prioritise 20 mph speed limits on residential roads to make them safer for pedestrians and cyclists. These will prevent deaths and injuries in young children and encourage sharing of the streets. Over the last two decades, several 20mph zones have been established in London and the numbers of killed or seriously injured children were reduced by half in the zoned areas.

Planning
When elected we will work to ensure that Hounslow Council provides, as set out in the Local Plan, at least "40% of additional housing to be affordable". We believe that all new plans should "take into account local context and character" and that tall buildings "be sensitively located and be of a height and scale that is in proportion to its location and setting, and carefully relate and respond to the character of the surrounding area." We aim to make Hounslow Council meet its sustainability and carbon emissions targets. We will argue that conservation areas should be protected for future generations.

Youth facilities
We will work with the community to improve youth facilities so that our young people have more opportunity to spend their time in creative activities.

Transport
We advocate good public transport to encourage more people to travel by bus and tube, moving away from cars and reducing pollution and congestion.

Law and order
We will work with local police to focus on crime prevention measures.

Our Streets
We will encourage the Council to maintain cleaner streets so we can be proud of our borough. We will plant more trees."
