Two teenage girls and a 24 year-old Fulham man have been jailed for a vicious assault in Fulham's Dawes Road last summer, which involved slashing the face of a 16 year-old girl.

The victim was left with a permanent 10 centimetre scar on her face after being attacked by the two girls while Daryll March, from Kempson Road in Fulham, stood guard to stop others from intervening.

Jade Stokes, 19, from Uxbridge Road, Shepherd's Bush, held down the victim's hands as a 17-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, carried out the knife attack.

All three denied GBH by joint enterprise but were found guilty at a trial at Isleworth Crown Court in May and were sentenced last week.

Marsh was jailed for two years, Stokes was given 20 months in a young offenders' institution and the unnamed youth was given an 18 month dentention training order.

A police spokeswoman said: "We hope the sentences handed out will send a clear message that police and the courts will not tolerate this kind of behaviour on the streets.

"Hammersmith & Fulham Police are currently targeting violent crime and anti-social behaviour as part the Met's Operation Target."

Operation Target is a  major new crackdown against robbers, burglars and violent criminals which was launched by the Metropolitan Police Service last month.In Hammersmith and Fulham, Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Smith said the aim was to make our borough one of the safest and most crime free in London.

He said: " In the coming months resources from this Borough, other Boroughs and Specialist Units, will be deployed to tackle crimes of violence, burglary, Robbery, car crime and anti-social behaviour by targeting those relatively few people who commit the bulk of crime.

"As always, this task is always easier when the community support us and work with us.
I would ask them to always consider basic levels of security; make sure doors and windows
are locked when you leave your home, don't leave any items on display inside your car and
please remember to check you have locked the door when you walk away from it; if you are travelling on the bus or having a nice evening out with friends make sure your bag is closed
and within view.
