Changes to the borough's fifteen-year planning blueprint
Hounslow council wants to hear from residents, businesses and developers about changes to the borough’s 15 year planning blueprint.
A four week consultation asking for people to give their views on an updated list of sites that could be developed in the future has begun.
The changes follow a consultation on the council’s Local Plan during the summer, and address new issues that have arisen, including feedback from the last consultation and new information available on the planning of new school places and an expected increase in the borough housing target.
Cllr Steve Curran, cabinet member for planning, regeneration and housing at the council, said: “We know we have a lot of work to do to meet housing targets, demand for school places and regenerate parts of the borough, and we want to make sure we have the right blueprint to carry out our plans.
“This plan is the blueprint for any changes, setting out what we expect from developments in an area. It also sets out locations for potential new homes for families, where facilities such as schools should be built and where shops and services should be provided.
“Following our original consultation, we have amended proposals for the original sites identified, and are now asking people about proposals on a revised list of sites that includes 28 new sites.
“With such a wide scope, stretching over so many years, it’s vital we get as many people as possible to let us know what they think of the options we have come up with - it will help shape the plans before they are submitted next year.”
The proposed site allocations will significantly increase on the current annual rate of planned housing growth to meet the new targets to be set to meet London’s housing need. Potential sites have been identified for the first 4,336 homes to be delivered in the first five years of the plan period.
Additional school sites are also identified as part of making additional school place provision in accordance with current projections.
