Hounslow Council has launched a new free smartphone app in a bid to help residents report littering and fly tipping more easily.

Simply send us a picture of the problem, the app will tell us where it is and we’ll do the rest, say the Council.

The app, which can be downloaded to any Android handset or iPhone, enables people to take a photo of the problem – be it litter, fly-tipping, potholes or dangerous paving – and send it directly to them.

Once you’ve downloaded the Sort It app and registered, there are just a few easy-to-follow steps.

• Click the Sort It button
• Take a photo of the problem
• Choose the category you are reporting – pot holes, fly-tipping, flyposting, gritting, over flowing litter bins, street light and traffic light problems abandoned vehicles, graffiti and vandalism
• Send us the photo – when that’s done, you will get an email to confirm your submission

It’s as simple as see it, snap it, send it and we’ll sort it.

Cllr Amrit Mann, deputy leader of Hounslow Council and cabinet member for environment, said: “This app will make it really easy for residents to let us know of environmental problems in the borough.

“So many people use smartphones these days that it will literally take them just seconds to show us what the problem is and where it is. No need to ring or text to explain – just show us. And once we know we’ll be able to deal with it.

“Everyone in the borough is responsible for the local environment. So don’t drop litter, don’t fly tip or let your pet foul our public spaces. But if you see it – snap it, send it and we’ll Sort It.”

To get your free Sort It app, just download it from the Apple Store or Google Play.
