Armed police were called to a gated community in Chiswick after a report of a moped rider carrying a firearm.

A witness reported seeing a person with a gun travelling along Thames Road at around 10.30pm on Monday 22nd December.

Officers from Hounslow located the moped a short time after in a car park on Kew Bridge Court, Chiswick High Road. Subsequently five men and one woman aged 19 and 20 were arrested at a residential address at the location.

All were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle and possessing a firearm. They currently remain in custody at a west London police station pending further enquiries.

The area around the car park remained cordoned off on Tuesday morning.

No firearm has been recovered and the moped has been seized. No shots were fired during the incident.
