A parliamentary by-election for the Feltham and Heston seat held by the late Alan Keen MP has been announced for December 15th.

Parliament has moved a writ to start the formal process for the by-election, prior to the notice of election being published.

Candidates who wish to run for election can file nomination papers between 28 and 30 November, between the hours of 10am and 4pm. The final deadline for nominations is 4pm on Wednesday 30 November.

The deadline for registering to vote is Wednesday 30 November. The deadline for applications to vote by post is 5 pm on Wednesday, November 30.

Voters not registered have been urged to complete the registration process by next Wednesday, November 30th. The Chief Executive of the London Borough of Hounslow, Mary Harpley, who is also Acting Returning Officer, said it was " a very tight timetable" and people should register as soon as possible if they want to make sure their vote is counted.

Applications for proxy votes for the election need to be received by 5pm on Wednesday December 7th .

Those who have already made absent voting arrangements and wish to change them must do so by 5pm on 30 November.
