Leiths School of Food and Wine has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.

Originally set up by Pru Leith in the mid-1970s, it could win Best Cookery School in the Food and Travel magazine awards.

The winner will be announced on 3rd September. Readers can vote for their favourite restaurants, destinations, regions, airlines, even cruise lines, in the various categories.

In the Best Cookery School category, Leiths is up against Ashburton School, ( Ashburton), The Bertinet Kitchen (Bath), Demuths (Bath), and Thyme at Southrop Manor (Cotswolds).

Some of the restaurants shortlisted include The Ledbury, Pollen Street Social, The Fat Duck, Le Gavroche, and The River Café.

Leiths School of Food and Wine was established in 1975 by Prue Leith and Caroline Waldegrave. It is now owned by Sir Christopher Bland. The Directors are Caroline Waldegrave and Sir Christopher Bland. The Managing Director is Camilla Schneideman. The school is located on Wendell Road, W12.

Leiths provides professional training for career cooks; short courses for amateurs; corporate team building evenings; recruits cooks for short or long-term appointments; and produces a number of cookery books on a variety of topics.
