Calling all Chiswick businesses

Commercial opportunities at this year’s Bedford Park Festival

The Bedford Park Festival every June is one of the biggest events in the Chiswick calendar - a fortnight of fun, food, fancy dress, film, photography, art, crafts, music, dance, drama, poetry, architecture and gardens, starting with the Green Days Fete on June 7th and 8th. Last year’s was particularly successful, as you can see at the website: www.bedfordparkfestival.org. This year’s is just two months away and we’d like to hear from local businesses who’d like to be involved.

Organised by St Michael & All Angels Church, the Festival raises thousands of pounds for local causes. This year we have pledged to raise £25,000 for St Mary’s Convent & Nursing Home Rebuilding Appeal. After more than a hundred years, they face closure unless they can raise over £1.5m to meet new building regulations.

Last year well over 50 local companies supported the Festival - including ChiswickW4.com, Sainsburys, Bushells, Fletcher Estates, Faron Sutaria, Granada Education, Snappy Snaps, Park Lane West, London Underground and Carlton Television. You can see their names on the website (via the sunflower labelled “Supporters”). Many are already signed up for this year.

Some companies paid hundreds of pounds to sponsor events and marquees. Many restaurants donated free meals as prizes in the highly successful Square Meals Tombola. Traders in Turnham Green Terrace mounted a Jubilee Treasure Hunt for children, and many organisations took stands in the craft marquee or on the Green.

We will shortly be approaching firms to take part in this year’s Square Meals Tombola and the Turnham Green Treasure Hunt, and there are still a few sponsorship opportunities for Festival events and marquees at the Green Days Fete. The Crafts Fair and Band Stand remain unsponsored so far - both offer attractive opportunities for banners and other forms of promotion.

If you would like to be involved in any way, or want further details of opportunities, please e-mail the St Michael’s Parish Office, at stmichaelandallangelsw4@ukgateway.net.
