This book is a work of fiction and it's not for the squeamish. But it is quite authentic and a number of the characters are based on people with whom Calum Kerr has worked and some of the places where he has spent a lot of time. Some readers might think that people aged fifty and above don't behave in the way they are described. But they would be wrong. For some baby boomers, age seventy is actually the new seventeen!

Calum says “I really enjoyed writing the book. Of course, some of the people are truly terrible but when it comes to laundering millions of dollars the stakes are very high, so I have had to be realistic. Equally some of the characters are lovely people. I particularly enjoyed writing about them; so much so that my editor made me remove thousands of words relating to their high jinks”.

He hopes that the book resonates with readers in a positive way; particularly Chiswick readers. And if you would like to know more about it, or even buy it, just click on this link: https://bryherhousepublishing.com

The First Reviews

“I don't normally read a lot of the crime/thriller genre, but I found this book to be really exciting. The ‘Terrible People' are truly terrible so it's not a book for the faint hearted. It's very entertaining and something happens on every page to suck the reader in as the plot twists and turns. Some of the action is totally unexpected and the characters, being from different age groups, take the reader into very different worlds.”

“Amazingly readable. You might not expect much from a novel about a firm of accountants carrying out an audit on a bank in the City.  But you would be spectacularly wrong.  Be guided instead by that cracking title:  this is a fast-moving, intricately-plotted, exciting thriller punctuated by scenes of terrifying violence and quantities of sex, drugs and a slightly lesser amount of rock'n'roll. I can confidently state that there has never been a more enjoyable read to be set in the world of accountancy!”

“I'll admit that I took a punt on this book based on the stunning cover design, BUT, wow … this is a story that will grab you and simply WILL NOT LET YOU GO. It's not for the faint hearted, but if you like a pulsating thriller that has guts, then I'd thoroughly recommend it. A knockout first-in-series, and Mr Kerr is most certainly on my radar for book two!”

“Who knew auditing could be so dangerous?! A gripping tale of privileged baby boomer accountants drawn into an alarmingly violent world. I loved it. Couldn't put it down.”

He has lived in Chiswick for his entire adult life. He enjoys walking and running on the local towpaths and is a member of Roko gym which is just five minutes from where he lives. He told us: “I cannot imagine anywhere that would be a better place to live than Chiswick. Huge amounts of empty space and greenery, the river, the High Road, the shops, restaurants and pubs. His favourite places are The City Barge, Annie's, High Road Brasserie and La Trompette for special occasions. He features them all in this book and couldn't resist including his allotment in Dukes Meadows!
