THE HOGARTH CHISWICK RNLI

The Hogarth's partnership with Chiswick RNLI came about in October 2020. As a local, essential initiative, The Hogarth were keen to join forces and support the Charity wherever possible. The Club houses many of their workforce as members to support their physical and mental wellbeing while they're out saving lives every day!

The partnership seemed like a natural one as both are passionate about supporting and protecting the wellbeing of others. One member of the Chiswick RNLI and The Hogarth in particular has had an extremely positive experience at the Club with Personal Trainer Helena Bewick.

Mark Turrell has been a full time Thames Commander since 2003. Back in June 2020, Mark sustained a serious, potentially career-ending injury in his right knee whilst on service saving a young lady from drowning in the Thames by Battersea Park. The injury resulted in Mark needing a total kneecap replacement, which was quite a big operation. The surgery was in December 2020, and Mark has since been working incredibly hard on his strength and mobility in order to prove to himself and others that his time in the RNLI was not yet up and he could still get back to his full operational role within the team.

Six months on, Mark received the extremely positive news from his physio that he had passed all of the rigorous tests to prove he is fit enough to resume his full time position and within six months of surgery, this was apparently “astounding”!

Mark states that without the help, support and guidance of The Hogarth team, in particular Hogarth Personal Trainer, Helena, he could not have achieved this:

“Thank you so much to The Hogarth Team for making this possible, without the fantastic assistance from the personal trainer “Helena” who drew up a plan around my condition and proceeded to work with me on all aspects of my surgery since I enrolled, I could not have attained such fantastic results. Therefore I most definitely would not now be looking forward to resuming my career, I shall of course be continuing with my fitness at the Club as I am enjoying it so much, it's a remarkable place and every single person working there does you credit.

Thank you again Dan [White, Managing Director] I owe you and your team so much for what you have done for me, please pass on my sincere thanks to the entire team with a very special thank you to Helena for getting me back on full operational duty.”

Mark continues his vital work for Chiswick RNLI and consistent training at The Hogarth. The tenacity, commitment and compassion that Mark has shown is exactly what the RNLI and Hogarth are all about.
