Nestled next door to the Gunnersbury Triangle Nature Reserve is the Chiswick location of Kido, an exciting new addition to the London nursery scene. Many consider their model to be the future of early childhood education. The customised and unique curriculum introduces project-based learning, STEM, and a dedicated art and physical development program delivered under the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. Learning is play based, with a strong focus on the needs of the individual child.

Chiswick parents are discovering the magic of a Kïdo education experience at the Colonial Drive school. A perk of the Chiswick location's proximity to both the nature reserve and curated grounds of Chiswick Business Park, means that students engage in plenty of nature trips intertwined with their school days. A two-minute walk from Chiswick Park tube station – and a one-minute walk from the Chiswick Business Park, of which they are the official nursery – allows for ease of access for busy local parents on the go.

Also unique to the Chiswick location of Kïdo is the 1500 square foot covered garden that sits adjacent to the 4500 square foot main space. It features the standard elements that Kïdo has become known for, such as large classrooms and dedicated indoor play areas.

The weeks at Kïdo are broken up into a mix of project based learning and teacher and child led modules on specific skills like STEM, Literacy and Math, which Kïdo is in the process of rolling out in Chiswick. “It was important that we developed programmes that of course speak to the traditional and necessary parts of early childhood education, but with a deeper and more holistic approach,” says Aniruddh Gupta, founder of Kïdo. “Children are never too young to start engaging with the world around them, which is why programmes like K-STEM are so uniquely imperative to Kïdo.” This programme sees students being introduced to a range of science, technology, engineering and mathematics elements – from learning the fundamentals of scientific methods, to being taught the basics of coding and robotics. “With the way the world is shifting so quickly and exponentially, we want our students to have that advantage even at a young age. To learn early on to not just be users but creators,” says Gupta.

Project based learning applies the skills learnt, through a hands-on approach. Children develop projects that combine what they've previously learned across all programmes and work on activities in the areas of maths, arts and crafts, literacy and more.

Many parents are appreciating the benefit of having an option like Kïdo local to Chiswick, exemplified by the rising number of enrolments term after term. “We've been thrilled by the response from families in the area,” says Gupta. “There's been a consistent uptick in student numbers, even from families who live outside Chiswick. The response and feedback we've been getting has been exceptionally encouraging, and it's a real testament to our dedicated and caring teachers and staff.”

Kïdo Chiswick will be holding an open house for prospective parents on 5 October, 2019.
