The scene is set for a romantic Valentine’s Day in 2015, as Steam Dreams announces a special celebratory trip on board The Cathedrals Express steam train. Couples can join the heritage steam train at Chiswick for a Valentine’s Day Lunchtime Tour of The South Downs, which is set to be hauled by B1 Locomotive, 61306 Mayflower as it makes a welcome return to the mainline after an absence of over 20 years.

The Cathedrals Express will set off from London Victoria at approximately 09:00, stopping at Putney (09:20) and Chiswick (09:30). Mayflower will then begin the steady climb over the South Downs and towards the coast. After catching a glimpse of the Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth, the train will whisk passengers inland as it makes its way north, across the picturesque River Itchen towards the Cathedral City of Winchester before arriving back at London Victoria at around 15:10.

Steam Dreams’ Chairman Marcus Robertson said “I can’t think of a more romantic setting for Valentine’s Day than the elegant surroundings of our beautifully restored carriages on board The Cathedrals Express. As we chug through the beautiful English countryside, couples can sit back, relax and, if they wish, enjoy a delicious Valentine’s Day lunch.”

For this special Valentine’s Day trip passengers can travel in one of four classes, starting from £85 per person in Premium Standard where passengers are seated at tables of four, with crisp white tablecloths and complimentary tea and coffee at their seats, right up to Pullman-Style Dining at £199 per person where they will enjoy a special five course Valentine’s Day meal with champagne.
