So many people talk about wanting “quality service” and drycleaners are no exception; we regularly get customers asking for a “quality” drycleaner as they’ve had bad experiences elsewhere. As professional drycleaners who have now operated for 50 years – since opening in 1967 – and with over 100 years of personal expertise in the industry among our three senior professionals, Top Hat Dry Cleaners can definitely say “Yes, we offer quality…. Both in the technical quality of our work and in the service we offer.”

That said, what does “quality” actually mean to the customer? What do you want from a quality drycleaner and how can we back up our claims for excellence?

At Top Hat we argue that experience is the key; you can’t become a quality drycleaner overnight and to be honest it’s not something you can see when you look at staff in any dryleaners, and sadly people don’t always tell the truth! However, there are signs you can look for as quality drycleaners, clues towards identifying a drycleaner you can trust with your valuable clothes and who will deliver consistent quality. There are three criteria for “quality”: Service, Product & Pride…

SERVICE

Service is about more than a friendly, polite staff member, although these are important factors too. Look out for the following indicators:

  • Is the shop front and the rear working area clean and tidy?
  • Do the staff appear helpful and knowledgeable?
  • Can they explain issues, concerns and cleaning plans clearly?
  • Do they identify and discuss stains that may be difficult or impossible to remove?
  • Are the items cleaned as quickly as you would like?
  • Is the service consistent across time and regardless of who you speak to?
PRODUCT
  • Have all garment stains been removed?
  • Does the garment smell clean?
  • Has the garment been pressed correctly so it is ready to wear?
  • Does the fabric feel the same as when you dropped it in?
  • Do they have the latest equipment?

PRIDE

  • Does the business appear confident and proud of its work and service?
  • Do they talk about and promote all of the above criteria; their history, experience, knowledge and commitment to quality?
  • Do they put something back in to the local community that supports them?
At Top Hat Dry Cleaners we are confident in our package and can self-confidently state that we are a “quality” drycleaners. We have been since 1967 and will be as long as drycleaning is needed. The reason we have endured and developed over 50 years is precisely because of this commitment to service. Without it we would have disappeared long ago, like so many poor-quality services, so when you trust in Top Hat you can rely on quality.
