B&Q Reopens Chiswick Roundabout Store
DIY chain says strict social distancing measures will operate
The B&Q store near Chiswick Roundabout has reopened this Wednesday (22 April).
The hardware retailer said that it had trialled reopening in two store over the weekend and, as a result, decided to start trading again in 61 locations nationally. Chiswick is the only store open in west London.
B&Q have said that ‘strict social distancing measures’ would be in place in all the stores that have been reopened. They say that they are planning two metre floor markers through their stores and Perspex screens at checkout. It has been reported that only card and contactless purchases will be allowed.
The DIY chain has been closed since the end of March after the UK was put into lockdown, although customers have been able to use click and collect services to purchase goods.
There are plans for two metre floor markers throughout stores to help people keep their distance and Perspex screens at the checkouts.
The store at Larch Drive has an uncertain future as a planning application has been submitted to redevelop the site into a major mixed used development.
