There has been widespread disappointment from Chiswick shoppers at the site of an apparently permanently closed Dada - the independent music and film retailer on the High Road.

The popular store offered an eclectic range of music and film at comparatively good value compared to other high street retailers.

The shop today has posters plastered on the windows with no indication of any intention to reopen. The company's web site states that the shop has been closed but it is not clear if this refers to the High Road premises or the online presence.

We have not been able to contact the company to confirm if the closure is permanent.

Over the last few years other music and film retailers have failed to make a go of running a store on Chiswick High Road. Online downloads and predatory competition from supermarkets have been blamed as the main factors.
