It’s official: Chiswick’s greenest Dad has now been found! After a very successful Green Dads Campaign in local schools, ethical food and gift business, Turnham Green, announced the winners of its Green Dad competition at the Bedford Park Green Night.

First prize was awarded to Sophie Graham (pictured right) for her inspired letter to Turnham Green explaining why she thought she had the “Greenest Dad” and Lachlan Thorpe came runner up. Phoebe Slight won first prize in the younger age category for her picture of her Green Dad doing his recycling.

“It was such a tough decision as we received such fabulous entries, but Sophie’s letter really stood out as she covered so many steps that her father was taking to be green – she even requested that we recycle her letter once we had finished with it. Lachlan’s passion for his “big, green machine” of a Dad was also very well thought through, so we decided to award him a runner up prize.”

Turnham Green has been visiting local schools teaching the students about small green steps that they and their families can make towards a greener future. Science Teacher, Mrs Mannon commented, “It has motivated them to make a difference in their everyday lives.”

“Education is absolutely critical in the battle to make our lifestyles more sustainable – we have been so impressed by the children we have met and hope to continue working with local schools to ensure green habits become routine for Chiswick families.”
