Chiswick resident Emma Hughes won £4,000 after buying a pack of diced Welsh Lamb at her local supermarket.

Emma, along with four runners up, were the winners of a competition run by Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) which asked consumers to keep barcodes from their Welsh lamb or Welsh Beef products bought at selected stores and input their details at www.eatwelshlamb.co.uk

Emma was chosen at random from over eight thousand entries in the competition which ran between October and November last year. She said: "I am a regular buyer of Welsh Lamb because I prefer it to the other meats available in the supermarket. I would have bought the Welsh Lamb anyway but to have won the prize is an extra bonus, but I've decided to be sensible and use it to help pay off my mortgage."

Laura Dodds, HCC's Market Development Manager, said: "We ran this competition as reward to the customers who are long time fans of Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef and also to entice people to maybe try it and also fall in love with it."

The four runners up each received £250.

The competition ran on packs of Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef in ASDA and The Co-operative stores in England and Wales and on packs of Welsh Lamb in Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury's in England and Wales.
