Comment on this story on the

ben who died of a brain tumour

Friends of former Chiswick resident and ArtsEd graduate Benjamin (Ben) Turner have come up with a novel way to honour his memory. Ben passed away last weekend aged 29, following a courageous battle with a brain tumour, leaving his many friends shocked and bereft.

Ben was featured in the BBC 'Hospital' series some years ago, when he underwent a four-operation on his brain tumour at Charing Cross Hospital. Originally from Yorkshire, he had lived in Chiswick and Shepherd's Bush area for several years and was a graduate of ArtsEd.

Ben had written his story on his Fundraising page ( Ben's Brain Battle Fund) where he was attempting to raise money for The Brain Tumour Trust charity.

His friends organised a Night Of Music From the Musicals at The Queens Head (formerly The Hole In The Wall) pub, Sutton Court Road on Thursday, 2 May.

His friend Gareth, also a graduate of ArtsEd who is organising the event, said they would have musical-themed cocktails, a big screen and lots of the best of West End musicals.

"It's all coming together very quickly and we think it's the best way to honour Ben's memory" said Gareth.

Ben set up the fundraising page so that others could get help, as he wrote on his page.

"I have decided to set up Ben's Brain Battle fund because my own experiences with fighting a brain tumour have led me to discover how much help is necessary . There is vital funding to be collected from kind people raising support. The government do not offer enough support. Let's keep thinking of new fun ways to raise awareness and funds!"

If you knew Ben and want to remember him you can go along to The Queen's Head, tonight, Thursday, May 2nd.
