Comboni sisters run community radio in Sudan
A concert of classical music to raise funds to support the work of the Voice of Love radio station in Malakal, Sudan, will be held at St. Michael's Church Elmwood Road W4 2JF on Wednesday Nov 21. The Oysho Quintet will play a selection of music including the Trout Quintet in A major composed by Franz Schubert. The concert, which is free will start at 7.30pm. Voluntary donations are accepted. The Radio Sant al-Malhabba station which reaches half a million people in the southern Sudanese region of Malakal is run by a Comboni Missionary Sister. The station, which has a 70 km radius, is threatened with closure due to funding difficulties. A talk will also be given by Sister Elena Balatti, Director of the radio station.
