Cllr Jack Emsley to take over from Cllr Ron Mushiso
May 17, 2025 Chiswick Homefields councillor Jack Emsley has been elected as the new chair of the Chiswick Area Forum. Chiswick’s eight Conservative councillors made the decision at their recent group AGM, with their choice set to be ratified at the full borough council meeting on Tuesday 27 May. Area forums are open meetings where the local community has a chance to ask questions of ward councillors, as well as hear from a range of speakers on local issues. Previous discussions at the Area Forum have ranged from the controversial Hogarth Roundabout scheme to hearing from community groups about their work in Chiswick. Speaking after the election, Cllr Emsley said, “I’m really excited to have been elected as the new chair of the Chiswick Area Forum. These are big shoes to fill, following on from Cllr Ron Mushiso and Cllr Gabriella Giles who have both excellently chaired the forum over the past few years. I’m looking forward to working with council officers and my councillor colleagues across Chiswick to deliver an engaging and informative forum for the local community.” The new chair succeeds Chiswick Gunnersbury Councillor Ron Mushiso, who was elected as Vice Chair of the Chiswick Area Forum for the upcoming municipal year. Cllr Ron Mushiso said, “I am delighted to handover the responsibility of the chairmanship of the Chiswick Area Forum to my great friend and colleague, Cllr Jack Emsley. It is an important role because it carries the weight of representation across all three Chiswick Wards. I am pleased to add that I will be by his side in my new role as his deputy.” The next Chiswick Area Forum will be held on the evening of Wednesday July, with full details and agenda set to be released in the coming weeks.
