'Suspicious Vehicle' Leads to Closure of Sutton Court Road
Police restrict all access while apparently abandoned grey van was investigated

Sutton Court Road was closed off between Heathfield Terrace and the A4 by the police this Friday evening (10 September) while they investigated a suspicious vehicle.
A 400-metre perimeter was set up around what an officer at the scene described as an abandoned grey van parked about 150 metres south of Turnham Green at around 9:15pm.
Residents seeking to return to their homes were denied access as specialist officers cleared the vehicle. They were told to message their neighbours to stay clear of windows and prepare for a possible evacuation of homes within the cordon.
The police told bystanders that they were being extra vigilant at the moment.
Six police cars and one van were at the scene but the all clear was given shortly before 10pm. After the road opened officers continued to search the vehicle but told residents that there was no further reason for concern.
The police later confirmed that officers had first spotted the vehicle at 7:30pm. It was only after investigations had failed to trace the owner that the cordon was put in place. Nobody has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Bus routes E3 and 272 were on diversion during the course of the incident.
