A Chiswick teenager has been given ‘an opportunity to change his life’ after he was found guilty of burglary.

18 year old Nicholas Kerswell was ordered to carry out 120 hours' unpaid work and remain under supervision for one year.

He was warned by the court that if he breached in the order, seen as giving him an opportunity to extricate himself from the gang he is currently involved with, it would be ‘very likely’ that he would be sent to prison.

Kerswell, who lives in Devonshire Road, was found guilty of breaking into the home of a 76 year old pensioner and stealing £200.

Despite having installed extra security measures in his ground floor room at the care home, this incident marked the fourth time the pensioner had fallen victim to burglars.

The court heard that ‘by coincidence’ Kerswell’s brother had also broken into the pensioner’s home.
