A teacher from Chiswick has been jailed for six months for creating indecent photos of children.

Peter Monks, of Park Road was sentenced at Southwark Crown Court to six months behind bars. He will also be on the sex offenders register for seven years.

According to a report in the Hounslow Chronicle, he had digitally altered adult pornography by superimposing a child's head on the images. The images were found on his computer last year.

He had taught at Chatsworth Primary School for nearly 30 years. He was arrested on 21 September, and was immediately suspended from his post whilst the investigation was underway. Following his guilty plea in early March, he is no longer employed by the school.

Judith Pettersen, director of children's services at the London Borough of Hounslow, said, "The school worked with the police from the time he was arrested, and we have all been reassured that there is no evidence of inappropriate contact with any children from the school, and none of the images were of children from the school. Parents were informed of the case and senior staff were available to discuss any concerns they had."
