Police are investigating a number of attacks on elderly people in their homes in the Chiswick area.

On the afternoon of July 5th, an elderly resident aged in his 80s, living in Thames Road was waiting for his carer, who was running late due to traffic. A number of intruders gained access and assaulted him. When his carer arrived she found he had been pushed to the ground and property had been taken from his pockets. Police said he was not seriously injured.

In another attack reported in May, a carer was at the home of an elderly client who suffers from dementia, when four men broke into the house. The carer was held in the bathroom by one man wielding a metal bar, who screamed racial abuse at her.

The elderly woman resident was attacked by three men who shouted at her to tell them where the valuables were. They left with some items of minor value.

Police say they are not currently linking the two attacks.

Another report was posted on the forum in which a local person reported a third incident where an elderly woman answered the door to a man wearing a hard hat and yellow jacket. He said he was part of a team digging drains in the road and asked her to run her kitchen tap. She complied with this and he asked her to do so again. While she was doing this he entered the kitchen but left after she shouted at him to leave. She was unharmed but frightened by the incident.

People have been asked to watch out for vulnerable neighbours.
