Candidates Declared for Key Local Battleground Ward
Conservatives and Labour announce who is standing for Chiswick Riverside

The Chiswick Riverside ward is shaping up to be one of the most closely contested in the upcoming Hounslow Council elections, scheduled for May 2026. Both the Conservative and Labour parties have now confirmed their candidates, setting the stage for a rematch in a ward that saw a historic shift in 2022.
At the last election, Labour won its first seat in the ward in over 30 years, with Amy Croft narrowly defeating a Conservative candidate by just nine votes. The result followed significant boundary changes introduced by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England, which redrew ward lines to reflect population growth and new housing developments. Notably, parts of Brentford including the Capital Interchange Way development was added to Chiswick Riverside, increasing the ward’s residential density and potentially altering its political makeup.
In 2026, the Conservatives will field a familiar team: Councillors Peter Thompson and Gabriella Giles, both of whom retained their seats in 2022 will stand again. They are joined by new candidate Jessika Toto-Moukouo, a retail professional and community advocate. The trio have pledged to continue campaigning on issues such as road repairs, green space protection, and opposition to Labour’s traffic and parking policies.
Cllr Peter Thompson, Leader of the Conservative Group on Hounslow Council, said, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to stand again for Chiswick Riverside. Serving this community is a privilege, and we have worked hard to deliver results, successfully campaigning for the reopening of Chiswick Post Office, securing repairs to our local roads and footbridges, and leading challenges to Labour’s parking measures, traffic calming policies, and e-bike schemes. Gabriella and I will keep fighting for resident-focused solutions.”
Cllr Giles emphasised the importance of maintaining river paths and supporting local services. Jessika Toto-Moukouo brings a focus on family support, youth opportunities, and affordable housing. She said that she was honoured to have been selected adding, “I care deeply about our community and will always listen to residents, work hard, and take action on the issues that matter. As a mum, I understand the pressures families face, and I’m determined to support them while championing local businesses, improving public services, creating opportunities for young people, and ensuring access to genuinely affordable homes."
The Labour Party has reselected Cllr Amy Croft along with Trevor McFarlane and Gurminder Randhawa to contest Chiswick Riverside. Ted Wall, Borough Organiser for the Labour Party said, “As Chiswick Riverside's hardest working councillor, Amy has been a fantastic ambassador for the Labour Party in Chiswick. Next year voters in Chiswick Riverside have the opportunity to ask for ‘more where that came from’ and elect two more Labour councillors in the ward.”
Polling day is Thursday 7 May 2026.
